Many beanies don’t feel finished unless they have a pompom on top. Pompoms transform an ordinary beanie into an extraordinary one, bringing the design elements together into a handmade masterpiece.
Pompoms come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and textures. I have a few different pompom recommendations depending on the style you’re going for.
Traditional Yarn Pompoms
If you’re making a traditional yarn pompom for a tiny heart beanie or Fair Isle beanie, you can save yourself some money and make one by hand with some yarn scraps. However, if you have a pompom maker, the project becomes infinitely easier. My round loom set came with several sizes of pompom makers. But if you’re buying loom knitting equipment piecemeal, I suggest these Clover pompom makers. They come highly recommended, and you can often find them on sale for less than $12.
Faux Fur Pompoms
Yarn pompoms look cute on most beanie designs, but sometimes you want to wear something a bit more elegant. Faux fur pompoms can lend your next project an entirely different aesthetic.
Cosweet faux fur pompoms come in a variety of cute colors, from white to black to pink. They have a delightfully soft texture. They also come with convenient loops that you can pull your yarn through and secure it to your hat.
Pick What You Love
I am an Amazon Associate, so I do receive a small commission for clicks on recommended products. No one pays me to upsell any specific brands, however. I get to decide what I share on my blog, so I only share products that I use and love.
If you see a pompom or pompom maker that you want, or find a product for cheaper, please use what sparks joy. I want loom knitting to be a fun, affordable experience – and I know not everyone shares my same opinions on products.
